Artist's Comments

Okay... now I'll really be starting a real fanart from this point onward. Starting with this one, of course.

First off, technical artwork details: pencil and ink outline scanned and edited with Photoshop CS. Simple coloring was done on purpose (notice that, aside from the hair, I didn't include shadows or lighting)

Secondly, this will be a starting point for me for succeeding character info sheets, comic strips, and probably even episodes, that will make up this Bleach Deviation/Doujin that I'll be creating.

Third, I'd like to write a short history about this character. On the author's side, the name Ayukawa Hayate (or Ayu-chan, as I would *personally* call) was created and was dedicated to a very special friend of mine. Therefore, it is only either me or her (yes, my friend is a she) who can use this name. This name is as old as when the onlline game Ragnarok Online came into existence, so I guess it's only just a few years old. But it's an old name for me nonetheless. For a few references about Ayu-chan's history, check out a couple of my artworks here [link] and here [link]

raaaI know a sweet nothing about Bleach to be honest, but I do recognize the clothing style and color to be prominent in it. Her pose is very sound, and she looks like she could fit right in :D

Oh, what a beautiful character she is. I think you did a great job bringing her to life!11

Thank you for posting on my thread.

I see you're following the style of the Bleach artist...you did a great job with the outfit and the pose.

First off, I suggest cleaning up the lineart a bit (especially in the hair). Somehow, the hair looks awfully flat to me...maybe put in more color variations instead of just a white and a brown. Keep in mind that hair is made up by ALOT of little strands. Each strand will catch the light in a different way so it's always a good idea to try to emulate that when designing hair. I also suggest maybe adding some highlights and shadows in the character's clothing amd face as well since it looks quite flat as it is right now. You DEFINITELY need to do this with the sword as well to illustrate the metallic shine that metal objects have. Finally, I think it might be a good idea to "round out" her cheeks a bit. Women don't have that straight edged face that men do.

I hope that was helpful.
